BalleKnalle Skrevet Mai 24, 2007 Forfatter Share Skrevet Mai 24, 2007 In the first free practice session for the Monaco Grand Prix, the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers, Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica, successfully completed the scheduled preparation programme. At the end of a busy session, Nick finished third, while Robert took ninth place on the time sheets. Having completed 31 laps (Nick) and 28 (Robert) respectively, both drivers were among the busiest drivers this morning. For the major part of the 90-minute session, they focused on working on the set-ups on the harder compound tyre available. Robert set his personal fastest lap time of 1:18.675 minutes in the first of his four stints and held fifth place, behind the McLarens and the Ferraris, for much of the session. In the end, he finished ninth. Nick's fastest lap, set on the harder compound, was slightly slower than that of his team-mate, but with 20 minutes remaining he went out to contest the fourth of his five stints on the super soft compound. On the first timed lap of this stint, he crossed the line in 1:17.615 minutes to take third place, just 0.643 seconds behind the quickest driver of the morning session, Fernando Alonso (McLaren). It became obvious that the super soft compound's performance level clearly decreases after just one fast lap. Therefore, it can be expected that all the teams will try to contest just one short stint on the soft compound during Sunday's race, providing the conditions don't change drastically. In qualifying, however, the super-soft compound will most definitely represent the only choice if a driver wants to secure a top position on the grid. In the second free practice session (14:00 to 15:30hrs local time, 13:00 to 14:30hrs BST), the BMW Sauber F1 Team will continue its preparations for the remainder of the weekend. BalleKnalle Skrevet Mai 24, 2007 Forfatter Share Skrevet Mai 24, 2007 2. fritrening ferdig... In the second free practice session for the Monaco Grand Prix, both Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld completed an impressive mileage while continuing their set-up work and tyre evaluations. In the first half of the session, Robert was the quickest man of the entire field. The Pole completed a total of 48 laps in five stints. Over the course of the first half of the session he improved his personal fastest lap time several times. In the second half of the 90-minute practice session, however, Robert did without improving his personal fastest lap time of 1:16.848 minutes and consequently finished seventh. Nick Heidfeld also made a huge contribution to the team's preparation programme. During his six stints the German completed a total of 43 laps. Unlike his team-mate, Nick never had a chance of matching the pace of the front runners. Throughout the session his car was suffering from intermittent fuel-pump problems. Therefore, Nick had to make do without setting a competitive lap time. Consequently, his lap time of 1:17.486 minutes and 14th place on the time sheets does not reflect the true competitiveness of car or driver. McLaren's Fernando Alonso set the fastest lap of the session, which was clocked at 1:15.940 minutes. The practice was red-flagged in the closing stages for four minutes due to an accident involving Spyker's Adrian Sutil, who hit the barriers at "Portier". In the third free practice session, held on Saturday from 11:00 to 12:00hrs local time (10.00 to 11.00hrs BST), the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers will continue their preparations for the remainder of the weekend. At 14:00hrs local time (13.00hrs BST), the qualifying session will provide an indication of the BMW Sauber F1.07's true performance level in Monaco. BalleKnalle Skrevet Mai 26, 2007 Forfatter Share Skrevet Mai 26, 2007 Bedre sent enn aldri..... her er resultatene fra kvalifiseringen. En smule skuffende sett med BMW øyne. The BMW Sauber F1 Team will start the Monaco Grand Prix from the fourth row of the grid. After a wet final free practice, the weather was mainly dry for the qualifying hour with the cars performing particularly well in the second segment in which they were third and fourth. Reactions...Nick Heidfeld: "We have improved the car since Thursday's practice and the lap times in Q2 were very promising, but I am not too happy about grid position seven. In Q3 we had some minor problems. We changed early to the soft tyres because there was some light rain which worried us. This meant the track conditions were not ideal and we had a little too much fuel on board. On top of that I made a small mistake after the tunnel. From grid position seven you can't expect too much. But on the other hand - in Monaco almost everything can happen." Robert Kubica: "I am very happy about the car's performance, but not about the position. Let's see how we will be tomorrow compared to the others with our strategy. I am satisfied as this morning because of the weather we couldn't do more running. In Q2 we were competitive, in Q3 less, but we will see. The car was good, much better balance than Thursday, so I am really looking forward to the race as I think we are in good shape for it." Mario Theissen (BMW Motorsport Director): "We had a trouble-free qualifying. We kept to our schedule although there was some rain every so often. Compared to 2006 when we had problems throughout the whole weekend, seventh and eighth on the grid puts us in a relatively good position for the race." Willy Rampf (Technical Director): "This was a turbulent qualifying session. Our lap times in Q2 were closer to the top than we expected, and based on this we decided on the fuel load for Q3. Because it started raining slightly in some parts of the track, we opted for relatively early runs. With this strategy we obviously didn't make the best use of the constantly improving track conditions. This is a shame, but nothing is lost because anything can happen in the race here."
