DanR Skrevet November 5, 2021 Skrevet November 5, 2021 Hey, sorry about writing in English (google translate below if that helps). Iâd really appreciate a bit guidance Iâm trying to build a track and road car from a Mini JCW (2012). Tried contacting SV, but didnât get any help. Guess they just refer to TUV homologation regs? This maybe a bit of a big questionâŠbut what can you do with without voiding your insurance and car registration? e.g. engine mods, tuning and interior -My car has the N14 engine, which isnât the most reliable so I thought of forging it and adding a mild tune, new induction, intercooler and high flow down pipe. -LSD, cluch and fly wheel. Coilovers (ohlins) -i was also planning on a half cage (heard full cage is illegal?) -Planned  a set of Recaroâs (iâm old) was thinking Pole Positions; but as my car has seat airbags is a non airbag seat illegal Thanks for any help Dan google translation :  Hei,  Jeg prĂžver Ă„ bygge en bane- og landeveisbil fra en Mini JCW (2012).  PrĂžvde Ă„ kontakte SV, men fikk ingen hjelp.
papertiger Skrevet November 5, 2021 Skrevet November 5, 2021 I can only give advise on the engine part; you will need TĂV approved components/tuning parts in order to be able to get any power increase inspected by SVV and written into the âvognkortâ. Then the insurance have to be updated according to your new vognkort.  On another note; please add pictures and info of your JCW! I just sold my 2007 Cooper S half a year ago and kind of miss it, generally too few Minis on this BMW forum. Â

Daniel. Skrevet November 6, 2021 Skrevet November 6, 2021 (endret) I have a hard time believing that they will say anything, or even find out about an LSD or aftermarket clutch/flywheel (unless the clutch pedal is super heavy of course) so I wouldn't be too worried about those three things atleast. Coilovers needs TĂV certification, recent alignment papers, and headlight adjustment. Height obviously needs to be withing the limits specified by TĂV. As for seats and cage, I think you'll have to ask SV about this, even if they're a bit slow at replying. But I suspect they will require TĂV for this as well. Full cage is probably not legal, unless it just requires bolstering near your head. đ€ Endret November 6, 2021 av Daniel.
E.C. Skrevet November 6, 2021 Skrevet November 6, 2021 For the engine mods you are usually required to present emmissions and they reserve the right to not approve your car. TuV approved tuning is normally "ok", but then you don't really get anything custom. The car/brakes are usually accepted to have the engine power output increased by 15%, anything over that you will need to prove that the car/chassi can handle the extra power. For BMWs you just use another model with bigger engine as a reference, with Mini I am not sure how it will work out. As far as I know it is not illegal to buy aftermarket parts that are "direct replacement", so I would say both the LSD and flywheel/clutch is nothing to care about.
DanR Skrevet November 7, 2021 Forfatter Skrevet November 7, 2021 Thanks guys, good advice. There are a couple of higher models than this JCW ie GP2 and Challenge road cars, both had lsd and a few more mods. But these made the same power as mine. I was going to use the gp2 for styling and exterior mods as you can still get them from bmw. There is also the Challenge race carâŠwhich was the inspiration for starting this project  these are from the generation 3 mini: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/mini/mini/91021/mini-challenge-210-edition-review  they also built Challenge racecars from my generation of mini r56. Using the same block, but with a different turbo and tune, making around 260-280bhp. Iâve been told that someone homologated a R56 Challenge race car, but I canât find any documents on it. its getting quite fun looking into the history of fast miniâs đ
